With our busy schedules, breakfast could easily become a grab-and-go meal, often resulting in a poor nutrition balance. This simple kid-friendly breakfast makes it not only easy to make for any mums and dads out there, but super fun for the little ones to devour.
By packing in omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids, a good amount of fibre, and selecting ingredients that are high in antioxidants, this is an awesome breakfast for an awesome day ahead!
With the simple ingredients below, you can now whip up a delicious kid-friendly breakfast in under 15 minutes!
SHAPE YOUR SAMPAN
First, preheat your oven (180C), toaster, or best, air-fryer (160C)! Now find a mould that you can use to shape your wholemeal sampan. If you have a nice muffin cup, great! Otherwise, simply use a small soup bowl from your kitchen.
Place one slice of bread in each bowl, and press down lightly along the bottom and sides so it makes a little boat. Not too hard else the bread will become really tough. Imagine the strength you’re using when burping the babies – hard enough to get the air out, but not too hard that it gives them hiccups.
Next, pound the pumpkin seeds, mix in chia seeds and sprinkle about a quarter at the bottom.
COOK & SERVE!
Plop the sampans into the oven, air-fryer, or toaster for 8 to 10 minutes. Use a spoon and slowly slot the sambal egg sampan out of the bowl. Do be careful when handling the bowls as they will be super hot.
