Braised Tomato Miso Mackerel

Full of Omega-3 fatty acids from mackerel, this Braised Tomato Miso Mackerel is the perfect dish to get the little ones hooked on fish!

Fatty fish like mackerel is full of omega-3 fatty acids, which are important for your child’s brain, nervous system and vision. 

Inspired by a Japanese dish called Saba Misoni (mackerel simmered in miso), we create our own rendition that is designed for the little ones!

Ingredients

  • Tenggiri / Spanish mackerel 
  • Miso paste
  • HaruPlate Roasted Tomato & Shiitake Sauce
  • Cornstarch
  • Lotus root
  • Sweet pea
  • Shimeji mushroom

Steps

  1. Pan fry tenggiri or spanish mackerel in oil till brown.
  2. Remove steaks, sauteed the rest of the ingredients.
  3. Add in tomato shiitake sauce and miso paste.
  4. Bring to a boil, then add tenggiri back into the pan. Cover and simmer for about 5 minutes.
  5. Remove steaks and ingredients, reduce sauce, and thicken with cornstarch mixture.
  6. Plate and drizzle sauce over the dish!
